The Fleetwood Fish Park project created 42,000ft² of fish processing units, with specialised facilities. Services ran from 2019 to 2021, with £2.6 million in DEFRA funding secured to support the local fish industry’s future.
The Fleetwood Fish Park project, developed for the Fleetwood Fish Merchants Association Limited on Dock Road, Fleetwood, involved the creation of 42,000 square feet of state-of-the-art industrial units designed specifically for fish processing. The development comprises nine units that adhere to both fish processing and environmental health standards. The project included comprehensive fit outs for each unit, the addition of mezzanine amenity spaces, and the installation of specialised equipment such as refrigerated cold stores, ice machines, polystyrene compactor machines, smoking kilns, and blast freezers. The design also incorporated photovoltaic panels to enhance sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint of the facility.
Services for the project began in 2019 at RIBA Stage 0, with construction completing in 2021. Artal provided full Employers Agent, Project Management, and Cost Consultant services throughout all RIBAStages0–6, working closely with all stakeholders to ensure the project’s success. A key achievement was securing £2.6 million in grant funding from DEFRA through the UK Seafood Fund Infrastructure Scheme.
